All about Emma
I qualified as a sound therapist in 2013 and soon began incorporating sound therapy into my massage practice. With over 30 years of experience as a beauty therapist, I’ve learned to expect the unexpected when blending sonic massage with traditional therapeutic treatments. As a certified hands-on energy healer, I work from the inside out, enhancing the body’s natural healing processes.
This ancient yet evolving therapy continues to leave me spellbound. It’s a journey of constant learning, bridging scientific research with the healing of age-old issues. Sound has the power to shape the future just as it has molded the past.
Emma is the founder of Laurabella Day Spa est.2005. After 30 years in the beauty industry, Emma found herself drawn to the need to help her clients not just on a physical level but also on emotional as well as mental. Sound therapy filled this role perfectly.
Soon Emma started experimenting mixing the two trades together not knowing what to expect but quickly learnt that the results were tremendous. It makes sense that working on all levels of being would achieve fast and long lasting results.
How it began….
It all started in 2012 on the summer solstice at stone hedge when I walked into the centre of the stone circle and entered an invisible a sonic bubble. The sound waves transcended through me from head to toe and into the ground.
The following days I had a constant feeling of being truly blessed, I awoke every morning as if life that day was a gift and went to bed feeling happy to have had such a beautiful day with a deep sense of calm and alertness. I felt tired mid evening, slept deeply and awoke refreshed. The normal occurrence of being stressed, feeling rushed; it just wasn’t there!
I was puzzled what was happening, as sound therapy for me wasn’t even known or even a thing to know about.
So by chance -
I met a client the same week who explained that the way I had felt was the result of sound therapy (The universe was telling me once again the way was paved for a change in life). This lady then produced a leaflet all about a sound workshop at Stonehenge that same weekend. I booked and jumped at the chance. This led onto me training with the workshop leader at West Sussex university to become a Sound Therapist.
I say fully qualified - Sound is so broad a subject, I feel that every treatment I carry out, some magic dust is sprinkled and I am reminded that the whole process is far from being understood. The training I received just gave me the tools of the trade, that there was so much scope to sound therapy, that it is an ongoing process of education.
Getting it right…
Sound therapy didn’t feel right integrating it into the spa, so I found an empty space on the farm and produced a sound studio, where I had total privacy and space around me for my instruments as well as offering small sound baths. After the pandemic I moved some of my massage clients to my sound studio which gave me the opportunity to blend sound and massage as well as producing treatments to target specific ailments.
my story carries on…
Now I am working with practitioners from all walks of life, dentist, doctors, speech therapists and hospital wards. Touching on some serious ailments — strokes, locked jaws and speech problems, Parkinson's, stress related ailments like headaches, nervous twitches, tinnitus, neck pain, stomach complaints and sleeping disorders.
I wish to work in the corporate world with sound baths, helping to reduce absenteeism and calm anxiety. This is mirrored to work in schools, especially secondary school children with exam stress, hormone challenges and learning difficulties.
2024 I am running a retreat in Peru bringing a spiritual aspect to my work. Incorporating Acupuncture, massage and voice, drumming circles as well as visiting some incredible spiritual sites including the birth place of the Amazon River.
Review from a client
For anyone wondering if a sound bath is for them or what to expect, I can only recommend you book a session and give it a go because it’s hard to find the words to describe it.
If I had to try I’d say that the sound bath with Emma is fully immersive and an experience like no other. Emma’s calm, gentle manner sets the mood and then she works her magic with her beautiful instruments and you get transported into a different world, wherever your imagination takes you. At times it was as thrilling as a roller coaster with the power of the singing gong, at other times it was like being in the centre of a wave in the ocean. Don’t be fooled into assuming it’s just about the audio, the sound seeps into your whole body and creates a kaleidoscope of images in you minds eye. It was like a sports massage for the brain. I came away thoroughly relaxed with a refreshed sense of well-being.
